Nuestra misión es empoderar a la humanidad para construir un mejor mundo a través de la educación Montessori en español.

Nuestros objetivos son ampliar el alcance de la educación Montessori y proporcionar más accesibilidad a los hispanohablantes. Queremos unir, promover y apoyar la educación Montessori para hispanohablantes y todos aquellos interesados en servir a las poblaciones que hablan español tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.

AMS en Español es un grupo de afinidad para miembros de American Montessori Society de habla hispana – y bilingües.

Somos parte de AMS Connect, una plataforma para miembros de AMS que nos permite mantenernos en contacto. Los anuncios se publican en español e inglés. El grupo cuenta con el apoyo de un moderador bilingüe.

Este grupo es un gran recurso para:

• Establecer contactos y crear comunidad. 
• Anunciar talleres de desarrollo profesional y cursos de entrenamiento en español.
• Compartir recursos.
• Difundir materiales de alta calidad en español.
• Invitar a expertos de temas de educación bilingüe y temas más generales.
• Definir recursos necesarios para el aprendizaje en español (materiales Montessori, talleres y seminarios, etc.).
• Resaltar la importancia de la educación multilingüe y sus beneficios.
• Destacar la implementación del método Montessori en países de habla hispana.
• Educar con enfoque de justicia social, equidad, diversidad e inclusión.
• Dar a conocer el impacto del enfoque Montessori en las comunidades de habla hispana, entre otras.

Nuestras sesiones mensuales abarcan temas como investigaciones de implementación de educación Montessori bilingüe en los Estados Unidos, justicia social, diversidad, equidad e inclusión. También presentamos talleres para padres y la neurociencia relacionada con la metodología Montessori, entre otros.

Somos parte de AMS para poder abogar por temas relacionados a:

• La educación multilingüe y sus beneficios.
• La implementación de Montessori en países de habla hispana.
• Educar con enfoque de justicia social, equidad, diversidad e inclusión en las escuelas Montessori.
• El impacto de Montessori en las comunidades de habla hispana.

AMS Español comenzó como un sueño pero tras años de lucha, colaboración y aprendizaje podemos decir con orgullo, ¡si podemos!

Margarita Díaz es guía de elemental en Breakthrough Montessori Public Charter School en Washington, DC. Everything You Need to Know about the AMS en Español Affinity Group

Our mission is to empower humanity to build a better world through Montessori education in Spanish.

Our goals are to expand the reach of Montessori education and provide more accessibility to Spanish speakers. We want to unite, promote, and support Montessori education for Spanish speakers and all those interested in serving Spanish-speaking populations both nationally and internationally.

AMS en Español is an affinity group for all Spanish-speaking and bilingual American Montessori Society members.

We utilize the community networking platform, AMS Connect, to stay in contact with other AMS members and to share publications in both English and Spanish. This group also counts on the support from a bilingual moderator.  

This group is an excellent resource for:

• Creating community and networking
• Professional development, workshops, and other learning opportunities in Spanish
• Share research and high-quality, educational Montessori materials in Spanish
• Access to experts in bilingual education and other topics
• Highlight the importance of multilingual education and its benefits
• Understand the implementation of the Montessori Method in Spanish-speaking countries
• Educate with a focus on social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Promote the impact of the Montessori pedagogy in Hispanic communities

Our monthly meetings cover the implementation of bilingual Montessori education in the United States with a special focus on how social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion play a role. Every month features a different topic and guest speakers are often invited to speak about parent workshops and research findings about Montessori education, among other topics.

The AMS en Español Affinity Group advocates for:

• Bilingual education and its benefits
• The implementation of the Montessori Method in Spanish-speaking countries
• Social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in Montessori schools
• The impact of Montessori principles in diverse communities

AMS en Español began as a dream and after many years of collaboration, we proudly say, “Yes, we can!"

Margarita Diaz

Actualmente, Margarita Díaz es guía de elemental en Breakthrough Montessori Public Charter School en Washington, DC. Anteriormente, fue guía de una escuela bilingüe Montessori pública en Washington, DC, donde diseñó todo el plan de estudios bilingüe de 1ero a 5to grado. Posteriormente, asumió el rol de Coach Montessori y Directora del programa de elemental. Margarita también enseña en el Instituto de Estudios Avanzados Montessori en la Escuela Barrie en Maryland.

Ahora con más de 17 años de experiencia bilingüe Montessori, la pasión de Margarita es motivar a los educadores y padres sobre la importancia de la educación bilingüe y la filosofía Montessori. Regularmente da conferencias a nivel nacional e internacional en inglés y español sobre educación Montessori, con énfasis en Educación Bilingüe, Educación para la Paz, Educación Cósmica, Geometría Sagrada y Manejo del Salón de Clases. Es ponente en las conferencias de la American Montessori Society (AMS), cofundadora de AMS en Español Affinity Group y consultora Montessori.

Margarita Diaz is an Upper Elementary guide at Breakthrough Montessori Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. Prior, she was an Elementary teacher at a bilingual Montessori public charter school in Washington, D.C., where she designed the entire first through fifth grade bilingual curriculum. Later, she assumed the role of Montessori coach and director of the Elementary program. Margarita also instructs at the institute for Advanced Montessori Studies at Barrie School in Silver Spring, MD.

Now with more than 17 years of Montessori bilingual experience, Margarita’s passion is to motivate educators and parents about the importance of bilingual education and the Montessori philosophy. She regularly gives conferences nationally and internationally in English and Spanish about Montessori education, with an emphasis on Bilingual Education, Peace Education, Cosmic Education, Sacred Geometry, and Classroom Management. She is a speaker at the American Montessori Society (AMS) conferences, co-founder of AMS en Español Affinity Group, and a Montessori consultant.

Karen Simon

Karen Simon nació en Venezuela y tiene casi 50 años viviendo en los EEUU. Está certificada por AMS en Casa de Niños hasta Taller II. Junto con su socia diseñó, fundó y dirigió una escuela Montessori en la Florida central y enseñó a niños de 3 - 12 años. Ella está enfocando su tiempo ahora en la formación de maestros tanto en español como en inglés.

Karen Simon was born in Venezuela and has lived in the U.S. for almost 50 years. Together, with her partner, she designed, founded, and directed a Montessori school in Central Florida and taught children 3 – 12 years old. She is focusing her time now on teacher education in both Spanish and English.

Monica Gargiulo-Benitez

La Sra. Monica Gargiulo-Benitez ha sido una defensora y maestra de la filosofía Montessori durante 33 años. Ella es la fundadora y directora de la Academia Montessori ubicada en Pembroke Pines, Florida. Actualmente, la escuela atiende a una comunidad de más de 680 familias, atendiendo a niños desde bebés hasta octavo grado. Montessori Academy está acreditada por la Association of Independent School of Florida y el National Council for Private Schools. La Sra. Monica Gargiulo-Benitez has been an advocate and teacher of the Montessori philosophy for 33 years. She is the founder and director of Montessori Academy located in Pembroke Pines. FL. The school currently serves a community of over 680 families, catering to children from infants through 8th grade. Montessori Academy is accredited by the Association of Independent School of Florida and the National Council for Private Schools. Ms. Gargiulo-Benitez is also the founder and director of the Montessori Academy Training Institute; a Montessori Teacher Education Early Childhood and Infants & Toddlers Program (EC and IT) accredited by MACTE and affiliated with AMS. Ms. Gargiulo-Benitez is a founding member of AMS affinity group “AMS en Español”, and of the Montessori Florida Coalition. Ms. Gargiulo-Benitez also serves as a consultant and an evaluator for the American Montessori Society, as well as for the Association of Independent Schools of Florida. Ms. Gargiulo-Benitez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and has earned her Montessori credential in Early Childhood and Infant-Toddlers (EC and IT) from The American Montessori Society.

Daniel Benitez-Oliveira

El señor Daniel Benítez-Oliveira es, junto con su esposa Mónica, miembro fundador y director de la escuela Montessori Academy – escuela que presta escolaridad de infantes hasta escuela media, atendiendo a niños de 3 meses hasta 8 grado - y del Montessori Academy Training Institute – centro de formación de maestros acreditado por MACTE y afiliado a AMS, que ofrece certificación a adultos en Primera Infancia, e Infantes y Niños Pequeños [EC, y IT], en Pembroke Pines, Florida. El Sr. Benítez-Oliveira es también miembro fundador, y Ex-Presidente de la Montessori Florida Coalition y miembro fundador del grupo de afinidad de AMS "AMS en Español". Daniel Benitez-Oliveira is, along with his wife Monica, a founding member and director of Montessori Academy school – an infants though middle school, catering to children from 3 months through 8 grade – and the Montessori Academy Training Institute – a MACTE accredited and AMS affiliated teacher training center, that offers certification to adult-learners in Early Childhood, and Infants & Toddlers [EC, and IT], in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Mr. Benitez-Oliveira is also a founding member and Past-President of the Montessori Florida Coalition and founding member of the AMS affinity group “AMS en Español”. He is a board member of the Association of Independent Schools of Florida [AISF] – entity that accredits private institutions in the state of Florida and co-accredits with SACS, MSA, AI, and NCPSA. He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and an AMS Early Childhood certification.
