Chaminade University of Honolulu Montessori TEP

I’m so grateful for the Early Childhood Education program at Chaminade University, because it not only helped me fulfill my dream of obtaining a Master of Education in early childhood, but I was able to learn more about how essential my role is as an early childhood educator. The people teaching the courses are amazing and I now have a group of friends who I can count on when I need help. I strongly recommend this ECE program to anyone who wants to obtain a Master of Early Childhood Education in early childhood.

The Montessori program at Chaminade has been instrumental in providing opportunities for teachers like me to help children appreciate who they are and to inspire them to transform the world around them to co-exist in peace and harmony. Conversion always starts from within the child and emanates from them to those around them.

I intended on just getting my Montessori credential but then when I entered the program at Chaminade and met the most amazing professors, I decided to go ahead and get my Masters degree as well. I felt so inspired that I decided to open up my own Montessori Primary School on Maui. It has been a huge success. I cannot thank Chaminade enough for providing me with the best education and the tools to help me shape the minds of our keiki.

Chaminade and the teaching philosophy that lies at its core not only gave me the training and certification to be a teacher. The grace and humanity shown through the teachers gave me a new perspective on people, on how to live with compassion, and how a caring heart and true desire to listen and learn can change someone. Whenever I was in class or posting assignments, I felt like someone was really listening, that they really cared. I’ve tried to keep that in mind when working with parents, children and coworkers. I am still learning, but they are masters of this way of living.

Chaminade University has not only given me the tools to be a successful teacher and director, but they have empowered me to be an active member in shaping the lives of the children in our community for a better future. I am grateful for all of the professors who continue to support and mentor me today!

I want to thank the Chaminade ECE program faculty for their body of knowledge conveyed with such enthusiasm and for their tireless support for students through the learning and documenting process. They created a unique classroom atmosphere which allowed all students to thrive and grow. While at Chaminade, I imbibed so much life-changing information, along with so many meaningful experiences that nudged me to expand and grow in my relationship with myself, others and the world. The M.Ed. program at Chaminade has enriched me as a person and altered my life for the better! Thank you, Chaminade University, for embodying the true spirit of Aloha, and for offering me so many ways to make a positive difference in this world.

The instruction I received from my instructors was undoubtedly amazing and the camaraderie among students was so strong. I was nervous to be joining a predominantly online program, but it is so well designed and the cohort model really enabled us to get to know each other and support one another. I have just wrapped up a second fully online master’s degree at Harvard University, and I realize that this kind of community for an online program is not the norm! I graduated Chaminade in Spring of 2019, I remember being at commencement expecting to feel this huge relief that I wouldn’t have to do grad school and work full time, instead I felt sad that I don’t get to stay up until midnight every week to talk about Montessori philosophy and practice with my professors and peers.
