The Montessori Even Recap 2022

The Montessori Event brings together thousands of Montessori educators from around the world for in-depth professional development. This year, we welcomed over 4,100 attendees in person and virtually, with over 2,300 in person and 1,800 virtually. Attendees listened to inspiring keynote speakers, attended interactive workshops, explored the exhibit hall, and much more. Take a look at some of this year’s highlights.

Jaimie Casap Keynote Speaker The Montessori Event 2022

Keynote speaker Jaime Casap, former chief education evangelist at Google, discussed how the next generation of students can use their skills and interests to contribute to our society. Casap encouraged teachers and parents to ask children, “what problem do you want to solve?” and “how will you work towards that goal?”

Ashley Judd The Montessori Event 2022 Speaker

Keynote speaker Ashley Judd, renowned actress, humanitarian, and political activist shared her wisdom and reminded us to take care of ourselves first so that we can be better equipped to serve our students.

Sign of Isabelle Wilkerson The Montessori Event

Keynote speaker Isabel Wilkerson, author of the best-selling book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, joined virtually and spoke about migration and what it means to become an immigrant in your own country. Later, she was joined by Ulcca Joshi Hansen for a facilitated Q&A session.

Duncan Wardle The Montessori Event Keynote Speaker

Keynote speaker Duncan Wardle, former head of innovation & creativity at Disney, encouraged us to take time to think creatively and expansively. Members of the audience even got to stretch their creative muscles during the presentation with drawings and interactive role plays.

Saadia Ahmed The Montessori Event 2022

Saadia Ahmed, from Houston Montessori Center, discussed what makes up the fabric of the United States of America.

LaTania J. Scott The Montessori Event 2022

LaTania J. Scott, from Blazing Stars Montessori, shared her experience as a young Black student with dyscalculia and how she found her voice and passion.

Lourdes Campos Rose Ramirez The Montessori Event 2022

Lourdes A. Campos Ramirez, from La Nueva Escuela Juan Ponce de Leon, helped us address the question: how do we create spaces of dignity and possibility during so much scarcity?

Charles Terranova The Montessori Event

Charles Terranova, from Cambridge Montessori Institute, shared his expertise in the amended chart of the Four Planes.

Juliet King Keynote Living Legacy 2022 The Montessori Event

Juliet King was celebrated as the AMS 2022 Living Legacy. She is the first Black woman to hold this honor. Dr. King has dedicated her life to advancing Montessori, especially for underrepresented populations.

Research Poster Sessions The Montessori Event 2022

Educators were able to learn from their peers by visiting the research poster hall to hear the latest findings in Montessori research.

Friday Night Party The Montessori Event 2022

Attendees of the annual fundraising gala, the Springtime Fancy, were treated to star-studded photos at a cocktail reception at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Later, they danced the night away while raising funds for program development at AMS.

Over 2,000 educators joined us online for our virtual experience. We loved seeing photos of educators gathered in gymnasiums and cafeterias to watch together and pictures from folks watching at home.

Maria Montessori the Musical The Montessori Event 2022

The Montessori Event wrapped up with the students of Montessori Academy in Brentwood, TN, for a special presentation of a scene from Maria Montessori: The Musical. The students sang, danced, and played their instruments upon the main ballroom stage, dazzling the audience with their passionate performance.
