Uniting Global Montessorians: The 29th International Montessori Congress

This article is sponsored by the 29th International Montessori Congress.

I am thrilled to share with you the story behind this event, which has been six years in the making. The world has undergone tremendous changes since our last historic global gathering in Prague in 2017. The pandemic, politics, and technological disruptions have permanently altered the world we knew, including our approaches to education and our classrooms. Therefore, I cannot think of a more timely theme for the upcoming Congress: Education for a New World.

The Congress is made possible by a confluence of exceptional factors:

Inclusive Speakers

You can expect the most respected figures from the global Montessori community to grace the Congress with their presence. Moreover, the Congress boasts a roster of more than 70 remarkable speakers who will bring their wealth of knowledge and expertise to the stage. These speakers come from diverse backgrounds and fields such as technology, spirituality, economics, and education. They include international and local experts, senior thought leaders, and young visionaries. Their insights will provide a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities we face in education and in life. Learn more about the keynote speakers.

Amazing Thailand

This year's Congress marks a significant milestone as it is the first time it will be hosted in Thailand. Thailand, with its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality, serves as an ideal backdrop for this global gathering. In addition to the Congress's robust program, attendees will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Thailand's vibrant culture, savor its irresistible cuisine, and marvel at its natural wonders. The experience extends beyond the convention center, as participants can explore 26 cities across the country during the post-Congress period, gaining a deeper appreciation for the country and its people.

Genuine Connections

While the Congress is an occasion for inspiration and learning, it also fosters meaningful connections among attendees. We have curated a range of opportunities for participants from around the world to build relationships and establish networks that will extend beyond the event itself. In-event social networks, pre and post-congress excursions, and breakout sessions tailored to specific interests and topics are designed to facilitate interactions and enable like-minded peers to meet and collaborate. We believe that the education challenges we face are shared, and the best way to address them is together.

Activities Beyond the Congress

The Congress is not limited to its program. In addition to attending insightful sessions and engaging discussions, participants have the chance to deepen their Montessori experience through various activities. School visits offer a firsthand glimpse into innovative local educational practices, allowing attendees to witness the impact of Montessori principles in action. Volunteer teaching opportunities provide a chance to contribute to the local community and make a meaningful difference. Furthermore, an exhibition will bring together the Montessori community from all corners of the world, showcasing the diverse projects, research, and initiatives that are shaping the future of education.

Special Patronage

The Congress is honored to have received patronage from distinguished dignitaries who deeply care about education. Leading the lineup of patrons is Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. Her support and involvement highlight the significance of the Congress and its mission to transform education. The Congress also enjoys the patronage of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, further underscoring Thailand's unique Montessori approach that emerges from close collaboration between governments and the Montessori community to create nationwide impacts.
